We Love to Sing
The Vallee de Croix Chorus is a women's a cappella singing group based in Stillwater. First chartered in 1983 as a member of Sweet Adelines International, the chorus has been singing and performing ever since.

Chorus membership presently stands at 55 women of all ages and voice ranges. We have members not only from the St. Croix River Valley area, but also from the Twin Cities metro areas and western Wisconsin.
History
Chartered in July of 1983 in Stillwater, MN the Vallee de Croix Chorus has provided training in singing unique 4-part harmony a cappella style and has entertained audiences of all ages. They are a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, a worldwide organization of women singers committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education and performance.
The 55 member chorus proves to be an outlet to women of all ages who like to sing and want to improve their vocal and performance talent. At the same time we serve the communities we live in by offering financial support and education to other organizations and institutions that teach vocal technique.
Goals
To provide an environment in which women of all ages can improve their vocal talents as well as develop leadership skills and personal enrichment. To utilize our talents in providing entertainment to our communities.
Activities, Achievements and Initiatives
- 2006 Regional Silver Medalists
- 2005 & 2003 Sweet Adelines International chorus semi-finalists.
- 2004 & 2002 Regional Chorus Champions
- Participated in the Sweet Adelines International Chorus Competition in October, 2005 in New Orleans.
- In 1998 took third place honors in the Women’s Division at the Buckeye Invitational in Columbus, Ohio (fifth place overall - men’s & women’s choruses)
- In June of 2000 was one of four choruses from the United States representing Sweet Adelines International at the Austrian Alps Performing Arts Festival in Kitzbuhel and Innsbruck, Austria.
- Have won various regional awards including, "Most Improved Chorus" and "Greatest Increase in Membership." For the past twelve years the chorus has consistently placed in the top three in regional chorus competition.
- Two of our members, Patricia Rygg (musical director) and Denise Baber are members of the highly acclaimed 1997 Sweet Adelines International Quartet Champions, 4-Star Collection.
- Sponsored youth quartet to Rising Star Contest at Sweet Adelines International’s International Education Symposium in San Antonio, Texas in July of 2001.
- Vallee de Croix Chorus is a participating member of the Art Reach Alliance..
- Provided teaching staff for "Singing for Others" workshop for the Greater Minneapolis Girl Scout Council.
- Coached area high school quartets preparing for their spring vocal contests.
The Vallee de Croix Chorus and its quartets accept engagements throughout the St. Croix Valley and Twin Cities area. We have a variety of entertainment packages to complement any occasion.
