Summer Splash! - July 19
Join Vallee de Croix for six short rehearsals this summer to learn the unique musical art form of barbershop harmony. Six Monday night rehearsals with our talented director, music and choreography teams will have you performing like a star! Harmony Explosion – August 8
Nothing beats a summer evening filled with music. With a full moon shining over Lake Como and beautiful weather, last year's Harmony Explosion was an instant success. Due to the enthusiatic response from our audience, Vallee de Croix will once again join eight other Sweet Adeline choruses from around Minnesota to bring you the best of barbershop harmony. Each chorus will perform three songs and come together for a grand finale that is sure to make your spine tingle! The free concert begins at 7:00pm at the Como Lakeside Pavilion in Saint Paul (1360 N. Lexington Parkway).
BUZZ CLINIC – March 5, 2010
WOW! The BUZZ CLINIC at the Wildwood Lodge for quartet singers, aspiring quartet singers and all singers who aspire to greatness was a fantastic evening of learning. Baritone Karen Breidert and Bass Jeannie Froelich from the BUZZ shared their knowledge and expertise in the barbershop style. Karen and Jeannie are both two-time Queens of Harmony. Karen won her first crown in 1985 with her quartet Jubilation. Jeannie won in 1992 with her quartet City Lights. And again in 2005, Karen and Jeannie struck gold together with the BUZZ quartet! Women attending the clinic were thrilled with Karen and Jeannie's energy, humor and talent! The next day, the entire BUZZ quartet coached Vallee de Croix for nearly six hours! It was an amazing learning opportunity, as the BUZZ worked vocals and choreo to perfection. The weekend culminated with an equally ambitious show "Let There Be Music" featuring the BUZZ quartet, Great Northern Union Chorus, Vallee de Croix and an ensemble from the St. Paul Conservatory of Music.
Spring Show - March 6, 2010
Vallee de Croix was proud to present this amazing event as International Medalists, the BUZZ and Great Northern Union, joined the chorus to showcase the unique sounds of barbershop music.
The BUZZ quartet were Sweet Adelines International Quartet Champions for 2005 but have continued to build upon their success. Traveling from New Jersey, Florida and North Carolina to entertain our Midwestern audiences, it was no wonder these women are world-reknown for their performances. Karen, Jeannie, Debbie and Nancy are all stars in their own right! If you missed this event, you really missed a great opportunity to see the best women's quartet in the world perform right in your own backyard!
Great Northern Union also impressed our audience with their precise harmonies and high impact message. They have performed all over the US and Canada as part of their annual concert tour. The GNU has competed in the Barbershop Harmony Society competition 20 times in its history and placed in the top 10 each time, with seven trips to the medalist circle. This men's chorus really enriched the evening!
Burble and Squeak, a charming clarinet ensemble from the Saint Paul Conservatory of Music, was also on hand, bringing the variety of instrumental music to the show. With their first "official" public performance, we were delighted to have them!
Vallee de Croix looked and sounded fabulous as we debuted our new costumes. The chorus also presented a touching tribute to Patricia Rygg with nearly fifty Sweet Adelines, former and current, leaving their seats in the audience to join the chorus on stage to sing How We Sang Today. It was an emotional and fitting tribute to a director that has taken Vallee de Croix to unimaginable heights. Thank you, Pat!
